You're not alone in that, Shannon. I too had an Ancestry test. My family name is decidedly very French, so much so that most people in America cannot pronounce it ("Keith Michael" is my Medium pen name). But to my surprise I'm only about 4% French! Huh?! The rest is English and Scandinavian. Sometimes our family heritage can be weird. But I think it's better knowing that not knowing. Yes, like you some part of me may have died that day, but it was the lie that died, while I embraced the truth of who I really was.
