This is anecdotal evidence. The issue likely runs much deeper, dare I say insidious, as well.

There is such a thing as separation of Church and State and pushing prayer and Christian Bibles into the hands of students in violation of the faith and rights of others who do not share the Christian faith is not the answer.

Teaching basic morality based on little more than the Golden Rule would be a great start. But when we cannot agree on a curriculum that teaches people the bare basics of how to be a good Human being, well, it seems education needs to be taken out of the hands of the State altogether.
