The paid model will evolve. Reading Twitter articles needs to remain free for everyone.
However, the biggest reason to implement the paid model for prominent accounts is to destroy the "fake account" bot networks on Twitter that are used for no other reason to amplify political rhetoric on the Left.
Right now anyone can setup an automation script to create millions of fake accounts on Twitter. Implementing a paid model will all but destroy the hackers' ability to successfully run these amplification networks on Twitter. Which is why you see the Left with the knickers in a twist of the fee.
I'd pay $8 for a blue checkmark that verifies my account. They way people know I'm not part of some bot network.
