With the Easter holiday in full swing last weekend, all manner of spurious memes and videos depicting bloody crosses, empty tombs, even fluffy bunnies, were hitting social media. From Facebook, to TikTok, Instagram, it was everywhere. You just could not get away from it.
I guess I saw just one too many “AMEN!” or “HE IS RISEN” posts, because the thought occurred to me: How does the Church get away with deceiving this many people into believing their mythology?
The answer is multi-fold and quite complicated actually. For decades of my own life I was caught up in the Church’s delusions thinking that I desperately needed Jesus to save me from my sins or else I was going to hell.
In a nutshell, the Church employs a quintessential “sales pitch” via a kind of “sales funnel” to lure unsuspecting people into their web of deceit.
Mostly, it’s all about pulling people into their clutches using other people we love and trust. It’s like the ultimate MLM scam (multi-level marketing), only there’s no real product, it’s just religious hype they dupe you into believing. The product they do sell is snake oil…
