Yes, Reagan did raise taxes initially as he battled the Democrat-controlled House and Senate the entire term of his presidency.

However, let's not forget that Reagan also lowered taxes from the 90% top marginal rate with all kinds of deductions, to a much more simpler tax code with a lower tax rate and fewer deductions.

Of course it's much more complicated than even this. Do we not remember Reagan telling Congress, "Do not ever send me a speding bill like this again."

And yes, Reagan did work with Congress on a many things, it wasn't alwasy a battle.

The 80's were an interesting time for politics.

All that being said, you indeed now make my point as well, we all see things from our differeing perspectives, which is really the overshadowing point of the whole section about "The Bible is like a book about Ronald Reagan written by Democrats." No one is ever going to give us the straight-up story without their version of the facts.
