In the context of Jeremiah 8:8, Ezekiel and Jeremiah override the "lying pen of the scribes". Sin does not follow the generations unless someone just commits the same sin as their parents. Parents lead their children into sin every day, but the parent's sin is not inherited by the children. It's an important distinction.

The Scribes and Priests led Israel into sin by messing with Torah (the Law). Christianity now has the same problem with Paul now ensconced within the NT.
