I love reading personal stories like this. All too often what we learn later in life is that it is how we treat others that makes or breaks our relationship with GOD. What too few of us remember is that forgiveness is only given to those who repent, this is, turn from and at least try to repair what we have done ill to others. This is all sin is anyway—doing something to someone we would not want done to us. More often than not, an apology is all that is necessary. It may not fix what was broken, but we live and learn and become better people because of repentance.

In the end, you are not your past if you learned from your mistakes.
