Appreciate the comments, Michael. I'm sure your pastor is a good person, but please do not assume they are correct just because they are a pastor. Most of them twist the Hebrew on their way to making sure GOD somehow needed a human sacrifice to forgive sin.
For the record, GOD says they never asked for sacrifices to begin with (Jer. 7) and that the "lying pen of the scribes" altered the Law (Jer. 8).
While I believe you are correct in saying that GOD can use the Bible to teach us, too many of us have been wrongly taught that the Bible is somehow "God's Word" when it is not. A lie or mistake within the Bible would not be "God's Word".
I would simply ask that you read a few more of my articles and understand that your pastor doesn't know half as much as they think they do unless they were trained under a Karaite Rabbi, which they probably were not.
Finally, all of us need to avoid putting words into the mouth of GOD. Your comments appear to do that. Also, do not assume I miss the nuances of the Hebrew. I, more than most, am very much aware of the nuances.
Take care and many blessing in your walk with GOD.
